IAM Intern Queen Blog

Thank You, Steve Jobs

Posted by: Lauren Berger | Posted on: 10 10 2011

This blog post is written by Tara, our campus ambassador from University of Maryland.

I’d thought I’d take this blog space to pay respect to Steve Jobs, and thank him for ultimately making a student’s and/or intern’s life easier through his innovative creations, such as:

1. The iPod: Music is known to help anybody get through tough times. Having thousands of your favorite songs at your fingertips is a college student’s dream. Personally, having an iPod has made long walks to class go by faster, homework more bearable, and internships more interesting (if you are lucky enough to be able to listen to your iPod while working.) Music inspires, so put those earphones in and start looking for some great internships!

2. The MacBook: When I look around a lecture hall, it seems to me that at least 80% of the class has a MacBook of some sort. One of the main reasons a student will buy a MacBook may be because they want to fit in, but it is ultimately a great way to go. Three factors about the MacBook that are important to a college student: they are easy to use, compact and pretty. A lot of companies are starting to use Mac software, so it will pay off to familiarize yourself now and be ahead of the competition.

3. The iPad: Talk about compact, the iPad is as good as it gets. If you don’t feel like bringing your slightly heavier laptop to class or to your internship, an iPad solves this problem.  It allows you to do everything your laptop does and is extremely portable.

4. The iPhone: What’s better than all these innovations: A product that has them all in one. The iPhone does it all, and happens to be small enough to fit in your pocket. An iPhone is great for the on-the-go lifestyle of a student/intern.

I’m not saying you should drop everything and convert to “Apple-ism,” but products similar to these will work as well. This technology will help you succeed and stay organized. These days, a tech-savvy intern, is a good intern.

Steve Jobs, you will be missed, but I’ll always remembered. #TeamApple
