This is a cool opportunity from our sponsor.
Lenovo and Intel are calling on all undergraduate and graduate students to blog for a chance to win a $20,000 scholarship! They are looking for seasoned bloggers and blogger newbies — anyone who is passionate about setting a goal and blogging about their journey to achieve their goal!
To enter students must go to LenovoBlogU.com to register and start their blog — it’s easy. Learn to swim, aspire to be a DJ, try out a new sport or write for the school paper! The possibilities are endless.
All blogs will be judged based upon their creativity, popularity (how many people are following the blog), and activity (amount of updates). The 10 finalists to make the Dean’s List will be chosen on September 30, 2010 and the Grand Prize winner will be announced on October 10, 2010. School is back in session and I’m back on the road. I kicked off my Fall Speaking Tour yesterday at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. The turnout was great and the students all had so many great questions. A big Thank-You goes out to Lindsey Pollak for recommending me to the school! The staff at Bradley was amazing and I found out that President Hitt (of UCF) actually came down from Bradley! During my presentations, I always look for student involvement at the end of the presentation. Are they asking questions? Are they really thinking about how internships affect their lives? Last night, the answer was a clear YES. There was so many questions – and really really good questions about internships. Students were interested in going abroad, going to New York & Los Angeles for the summer. Many had questions about their resumes and making sure they include relevant work experience.
One of the great things about Bradley is how much they support their student interns. As a sophomore, you can go into the career center, and register for internships – for credit OR not for credit – either way it shows up on your transcript. Another interesting note, was how nicely Bradley works with their community. As opposed to just being a school in Peoria, Bradley truly partners with their community and works closely with both students and non-students from the area on career consulting and more.
Overall, I had a great experience (minus a few travel delays) and will hopefully be back to Peoria in the not-so-distant future. Thank you so much to everyone at Bradley who made my visit a success. Off to Purdue!
