Jessica is a junior at UC Santa Cruz, and is a Sociology Major.

Being a college student is more stressful than most people think. School can become especially stressful when you take extra classes and also have a job or internship at the same time. So how can a busy college student take a break and relax, without getting behind?

I go to school in California, where the weather is temperate all year long. If you’re lucky enough to go to a school where you can walk around outside without freezing, you should try to do your homework outside. If you can’t do work outside of your normal work environment, try taking a break from work and going on a walk around campus. By just taking a break from your work and absorbing your natural surroundings, you will feel more relaxed and calm about your piles of work. When I feel overwhelmed by how much work I have, I go for a walk and think about how all of the work I’m doing will pay off in the long run. If you don’t take a break every so often and realize how great you’re doing, you will surely overwork yourself and feel burned out.

But, don’t fret- even if you don’t go to a school where you can freely roam around campus at this time of year, you can still take a break from work to clear your mind! You can easily take a break while still staying warm. Why not read a book, listen to music, or watch TV for 30 minutes before cramming in more studying or work? By allowing yourself to mentally relax before doing more work, you’ll feel refreshed and prepared to study!

No matter where you go to school, don’t forget to take a break once in awhile. Without factoring in time to relax from your work, you will easily lose a sense of balance in your work life. So go ahead and take a break, and always remind yourself that you’re doing a great job!

Q: Hi , my name is Olivia and I’m in desperate need of an internship. I
would really love to work as a lawyers intern. In NYC. I am also interested
in working at an fashion magazine intern . If you have any help please
contact me, Thanks !

Olivia, Anonymous College Student

A: Hi Olivia!

Legal internships are extremely popular. I work with a few on my site but I would really suggest that you go into your career center at school and see who they have relationships with around town or nationally. Remember, they spend all day making great relationships for you to utilize! If you are interested in fashion, I can definitely be helpful. Check out the listings on my sitehttp://www.internqueen.com and apply for whatever you might be interested in. I would also check with your career center and the fashion department at your school. Both fashion and legal internships are very popular and extremely competitive so I would start looking into them and applying ASAP.

Remember, internships are a chance for you to try out different fields and see which one is a fit for you. I encourage you to try out both fashion and Law opportunities and weigh the pros and cons of each. I’m so excited for you to begin your internship journey. Make sure you apply to tons of opportunities (at least 10) so that you make sure you land something.

Good luck!

Lauren Berger

Q: @InternQueen You have a lot of internships in the industry I want to work in. What full time opportunity resources or suggestions do u have?

A: Hi Carolina,

Thanks for sending me the message! Yes, we have a ton of internships, especially in the PR/Communications/Entertainment/Journalism/Tech space. Here is what I would suggest in terms of using the site:

1. Get familiar with our listings. Block out an hour this weekend to go through the listings. My advice is to read everything, not only the big brand names that you already are aware of. We have some really cool opportunities on the site and not all of them are well-known names but still provide a great experience.

2. Pinpoint Your Favorites. Select between 10-20 internships that you’d like to apply for. Read over all of the different requirements.

3. Read the Blog, I AM INTERN. Access the I AM INTERN blog from the homepage and read up on all of the internship advice provided. You want to apply and be confident that you know what you are getting into. You can also check out the Intern Queen Twitter feeds, Facebook Page, and YouTube Videos.

4. Take a moment to get your materials together. Apply for each internship separately so that you can include a cover letter in the box provided right above your resume. This will help you land the position and connect the dots for the employer.

5. Go on the site and apply for all of the internships.

6. Sign up for the Intern Queen Hot List so that you stay aware of any new opportunities on the site.

Good luck!

A great letter of reference about InternQueen.com and an intern from Columbia College Chicago.

Here at Intern Queen Inc & InternQueen.com we get tons of testimonials from students, parents, career centers, and employers who are happy with their services for one reason or another. However, upon reading this note from ROAR, I simply had to share it with you. I’ve removed Christopher’s last name for privacy purposes but I really do congratulate him on making a wonderful impression at a great Management Company.

Intern Queen,

It was a great pleasure to have Christopher as my intern here at ROAR. ROAR specializes in talent and brand management, and advisory service for the entertainment industry. It also has a well regarded literature department, to which Christopher’s background was a perfect fit. As a graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Screen and Television Writing, Christopher displayed the knowledge that was expected of him the moment he came to intern.

After the first few weeks, I recognized Christopher’s commitment to proving himself as a valuable member to not just the literature department, but the entire ROAR team. Since coming in May, Christopher has been fully engrossed with the day to day workings of the literary department, along with taking the time to help other departments that have been short handed. While at ROAR he has mastered a wide skill set, ranging from administrative duties to script and story analysis and has done all these task with a positive attitude.

I appreciated the work Christopher gave and continues to give at ROAR and I truly am grateful to the people at InternQueen who provided me with such an excellent partner to work alongside. InternQueen is a wonderful service that I will use again, and I will most definitely be helping Christopher in his promising career.

-Internship Coordinator, ROAR

As the Intern Queen, you could say that I’m addicted to internships. Or that when I was in college, I was addicted to internships. You might be an Intern-A-Holic if…..

1. You are currently a summer intern and spend most of your time looking for fall internships.

2. You’re only a freshman or sophmore and you’ve already participated in an internship or two or three….

3. You are constantly looking up places to work & people you admire.

4. You tweet everyday and are very aware of your favorite employers & career/internship experts on Twitter.

5. You NEED to know that you have the coolest internships out of all of your friends.

6. You’ve already had bad experiences with the printer, copy machine, and coffee machine.

7. You’ve started blogging about your internship experiences.

8. You’ve already thought about where you want to intern Summer 2011…and maybe Summer 2012.

9. You aren’t supposed to work on the weekends but can’t help checking your intern email account and doing research for Monday.

10. You spend more than anyone you know thinking about internships, social networking, and your future.

What else ?
