This is a blog post from our Intern Queen Campus Ambassador from West Virginia University, Victoria. Where do you plan to Intern this coming summer? Comment below let us know!

So I know what most of you are thinking, summer internships?! Already?! Yes, believe it or not it is almost time to start planning for next summer. You always need to be a season ahead, and with spring internships already being posted, that means that summer internships are right around the corner.

So the first thing that you can do is to make sure your checking up on InternQueen.com daily. Even if you don’t see any internships for summer posted just yet, you never know what you will find. You may stumble across a company that interests you, and keep them in mind for a summer internship. Checking the website daily will help you to stay interested and active in trying to get that perfect summer internship.

The next thing you need to do, is make a list of the companies that you a definitely interested in interning for. Once you do that, visit their websites, and see if they have anything about their internships listed yet. Most of them will have a section under “Careers” about their internships and you can submit your resume. This is always a good option to submit your resume just so the company has it on file for when they do start picking summer interns.

Another thing that will help you start to prepare for summer internships, is follow the companies that you’re interested in on Twitter. Some companies will post things on Twitter talking about looking for summer interns, or about internship opportunities. This is a great way to network and follow the companies.

So if your interested in interning this summer, make sure you stay on top of everything, and constantly be checking to see when summer internships start getting posted. You will be happy you did all of this when you land that perfect summer internship!

Jessica is a junior at UC Santa Cruz, and is a Sociology Major.

Being a college student is more stressful than most people think. School can become especially stressful when you take extra classes and also have a job or internship at the same time. So how can a busy college student take a break and relax, without getting behind?

I go to school in California, where the weather is temperate all year long. If you’re lucky enough to go to a school where you can walk around outside without freezing, you should try to do your homework outside. If you can’t do work outside of your normal work environment, try taking a break from work and going on a walk around campus. By just taking a break from your work and absorbing your natural surroundings, you will feel more relaxed and calm about your piles of work. When I feel overwhelmed by how much work I have, I go for a walk and think about how all of the work I’m doing will pay off in the long run. If you don’t take a break every so often and realize how great you’re doing, you will surely overwork yourself and feel burned out.

But, don’t fret- even if you don’t go to a school where you can freely roam around campus at this time of year, you can still take a break from work to clear your mind! You can easily take a break while still staying warm. Why not read a book, listen to music, or watch TV for 30 minutes before cramming in more studying or work? By allowing yourself to mentally relax before doing more work, you’ll feel refreshed and prepared to study!

No matter where you go to school, don’t forget to take a break once in awhile. Without factoring in time to relax from your work, you will easily lose a sense of balance in your work life. So go ahead and take a break, and always remind yourself that you’re doing a great job!

Ana is a communications major with a concentration in PR.

Being a full time college student, working part-time, and doing an internship can be not only time consuming, but incredibly stressful as well.

Finding time to do something for yourself can be difficult but it is even more important to do something with that time that makes you happy and relaxed.

So what do you do when you’re stressed out from school, work and all other things that take up so much of your time? What about zumba? Or even yoga? I have found these two very different types of exercises to be not only relaxing but amazing for my body as well.

Other than two years of volleyball in high school, I was never really active, and so running a mile for me can be very difficult. I started doing yoga at home because I was bit self-conscious to go to classes and figured that buying a DVD would work for me. Money well spent I would say! The DVD that I purchased is divided into morning and night yoga and it’s for beginners! I feel so relaxed after doing yoga and I also give myself a couple minutes to meditate and prepare myself either for a great day or a restful night.

Zumba on the other hand, is completely different from yoga! Recently, my sister asked if I wanted to go to a class with her and I thought why not? What do I have to lose except a couple of pounds, maybe? So I went with her and it was the best work out ever!

Not only are you constantly moving around, but it is actually fun! The dance moves that you learn you can use outside of the class. Every time my sister and I hear a song that is from our class, we just start dancing, wherever we are. And to those who are a bit self-conscious about dancing in front of a bunch of people, myself included, nobody cares what you look like when you dance. Everyone is there to have a good time, have fun, and tone his or her body. Your booty and legs might hate you for a couple of days if you put your all into it, but it is all worth it in the end.

Whether you’re looking to get rid of your stress by doing yoga or zumba, both will leave you feeling better than before. Also, since exercising releases endorphins, not only will you feel relaxed but you’ll feel happy as well.

What school do you go to and which exercise classes do you attend?

Today I spoke at Columbia College’s LA Program Headquarters and chatted up the students about internships. The class was great and perfect for my entertainment/communications niche. One student in particular sticks out in my mind because when I left the class, she came running down the hall after me. She had a question and didn’t want to ask in front of the class. She is really passionate about a few internships on my site and her running after me, definitely showed me that she wasn’t lazy. Of course, I won’t share her question, but I will remember her. By running down the hall, she really showed me that she cared about these positions and I will expect to see big things in the future. It’s true what they say, run after what you want.

This past fall, I did a post called PIMP OUT YOUR FALL INTERNSHIP. We’ve changed it up a bit for the Spring Time and it’s featured on WorkingWomen.com’s new section, Campus Corner. This should be a great resource for young women who are interested in learning more about the workplace.

Hello Everyone,

I come to you with very exciting news. The day has come for my site http://www.internqueen.com to re-launch with new dynamic internship listings that allow users to search by industry, location, and semester. I’ve re-themed the site and really like the new look. The goal of the re-design was to create a clear internship destination for students looking for internships and companies looking to find great intern candidates.

The site still features my blog, I AM INTERN, and will soon feature my clothing boutique for Internal EthiKs. I’ve also linked in my Intern Queen YouTube Channel for even more internship advice.

I’m so proud of everyone who took the internship initiative over the past year. My run with quarterlife was a great one and although my site will no longer live on the quarterlife domain, I continue to have a great relationship with quarterlife and be forever in-debt to everyone who was part of that experience. All users who visit http://www.quarterlife.com/intern will soon be re-directed to http://www.internqueen.com.

On a personal note, I want to thank Marshall Herskovitz, the man who made all of my dreams possible. Every young entrepreneur dreams of the day when a successful businessman approaches them and is fascinated by what they’ve created. I was lucky enough to experience that last year with Marshall Herskovitz. I hope that everyone follows his example and takes a chance on an unknown project. Without taking risks, I wouldn’t be launching this site and I definitly wouldn’t be able to run my business from day to day.

I also want to thank Kevin and Mike – my wonderful creative team behind the new site. They have worked night and day on this project for weeks and I’ve so appreciative.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly at lauren@internqueen.com. I love responding to all of your messages and hearing your feedback.

Keep on applying for internships and looking for interns

Best of luck,
