Internship Duties: 

Description:
The Vans Public Relations Intern assists the department with Public Relations efforts both within the company and to the public. The Intern will assist the PR department with editorial coverage, product placement in film and television, developing public relations materials (news releases, media alerts, product info sheets) for both Vans products and Vans special events. The PR Intern will assist with delivery of products to celebrities, musicians and athletes. Additionally, the PR Intern willmaintain an inventory of samples that will be utilized for key product initatives. Finally, the PR Intern plays an integral role in maintaining Vans intranet tht communicates Vans Marketing Department activites to the rest of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
— Editorial Coverage - Assist with selecting proper products for coverage in print, online and television editorial pieces.
— Product Placement - Assist with delivery of product to Hollywood productions for television and film.
— Celebrity & Media Seeding - Assist with delivery of product to celebrities, musicians and athletes.
— Event and Product Publicity - Depending on experience, intern will assist with development of media materials and pitching to media.
— Vans.com Internet and Company Tumblr -Maintain Vans PR site which catalogs Vans media coverage and makes it available within the company for viewing. — Sample Management - Manage media samples within Vans office for easy distribution to media and entertainment outlets.

Education/Experience:
— Years of Related Professional Experience: 0-1 yr. Currently enrolled in an accredited education institution with a major in Public Relations, Mass Communications, Journalism or English.
— Participation in Sports Information Department, College Public Affairs, PRSSA or school newspaper and events is a plus. Interest in action sports, street fashion, art and music desired.

Skills:
— Interpersonal and communication skills.
— Must be capable of working within a team environment Strong organizational skills.
— Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and e-mail programs needed with experience in graphics design programs a plus.
— Knowledge of Tumblr and Photoshop is a plus.

Special Requirements:
— Ability to lift/move product between 1-25 pounds daily.

Ideal Candidate:

Day to day tasks will include:

Production Tasks:

Responsibilities: Dress for Success Worldwide-West has an opening for a Special Events Intern starting in September and ending in November. The incumbent will report to the Development Manager and be responsible for assisting in all aspects of event planning and execution for all of the organization’s events including: Yoga in The Park, The Power Walk for Dress for Success, Shop for Success and other special events. Must be available to attend and assist on some evenings and weekends. The Special Events Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in event management and fundraising in a professional work environment. The Special Events Intern will assist with such areas as auction outreach, corporate research, and event management, marketing/promotion of events, gift bag solicitation, and administrative tasks.

 Work with the Development Manager and Development and Corporate Relations Intern to identify, solicit and secure in-kind donations of product for prizes, auctions, raffles, giveaways.
 Assists with orientation of event volunteers.
 Maintain current information and submit updates for all online event pages.
 Research corporate partners for potential partnerships.
 Work with our Director of Operations to promote and market the events.
 Aid in the coordination of event logistics, vendor management, etc.
 Administrative duties as assigned including maintaining several excel spreadsheets.
 Attend all events and assist with set-up, breakdown, check-in, information table. Duties may include assembling red carpet step & repeat for photos, event signage, taking pictures, tabling, etc.

Requirements: Passion for Dress for Success’ mission. Interest in fundraising, events, media, women issues and:

 Good organizational and time management skills
 Willingness and ability to work well with others
 Knowledge of Microsoft Office
 Polished written and verbal communication skills
