Human Resources Internship Opportunity
We are a large hospitality and retail company specializing in Italian food and beverages. Our vendors provide traceable products from both local and international farms and producers. We are a vibrant startup company whose business is growing rapidly as we expand our store and the range of products we offer.
This is a specialized learning experience in the Human Resources Department of large start-up company with over 700 employees. You will gain the skills necessary to work in a fast-paced corporate office of a growing business. This will also be a specialized learning opportunity in converting an HR department to a new HRIS system. This internship is to prepare you for a career in the exciting field of Human Resources.
Responsibilities
• Assist with a special HRIS employee data conversion project.
• Work closely with the HR department to gain knowledge of the employer/employee relationship.
• Interdepartmental communication as it pertains to new hire onboarding.
• Attend Insurance and Orientation Meetings.
• Learn how to maintain compliancy with labor laws i.e.) completion of federal forms, file maintenance, confidentiality, employee rights, etc.
• Assist in the collection and review of department-specific training materials and creation of a consolidated training binder.
• General office experience in filing, organization, and corporate culture.
Internship will be based on merit. Qualifications we are looking for:
• Effective communication in speech and writing.
• Highly detail oriented and organized.
• Experience with MS Office/ Excel.
• Enthusiastic and naturally curious, asking questions and sharing ideas.
• Interest in Italian gastronomy a plus.
This is a 3 month unpaid internship. School credit will be given upon request. Our office is located in the Flatiron District and operates on a Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm schedule.
Interns are welcome to participate in diverse and fun food-related classes/demonstrations/discussions. Past topics have been Olive Oil 101, Introduction to Slow Food, and Fresh Pasta Making to name a few.
