Pittsburgh Magazine Online Internship
Since 1969, Pittsburgh Magazine has been the region's most-read magazine. Built on the foundation of independent quality journalism, our magazine serves as a trusted information partner for engaged residents. Pittsburgh is now a buzz city, a center for health care, technology, the arts and more—and we've documented its growth along the way.
In the past, the online intern has shot and edited video, snapped photos at local events, and assisted the online editor with website-related projects. This position differs every semester, as it is influenced by the student's skill set and interests.
Ideally, we're seeking a candidate with working knowledge of content-management systems who is able to understand and write code from time to time. This individual will be able to complete a variety of assignments, from posting articles to formatting spreadsheets and uploading them to the geobases. Additionally, if the intern has developed video-editing, photography and design skills, relevant projects may be assigned. There also may be a handful of opportunities for the intern to help manage the social media accounts or conduct related research. Lastly, knowing how to write and edit is a plus; our online editor has held other editorial positions and helps shape the content that appears on our site—something that an online intern may be able to assist with as well.
Though students do not get monetary compensation for their time (simply receiving academic credit), they are acknowledged in the magazine's masthead.
