National Public Media (NPM) is the media sales division of NPR and PBS. As the sponsorship sales team for national and regional offerings on NPR and PBS stations and digital assets, National Public Media offers the best public media sponsorship opportunities. Sponsorship offerings include flagship news programs like Morning Edition® and PBS NewsHour, integrated presence on and and custom packages and event activation from PBS Digital Studios and NPR Music. We work with companies across categories with a range of objectives — from financial services to home improvement, national branding to regional retail — to create sponsorships that perform.

Internship Duties: 

National Public Media is looking for an entry-level sales intern to join our dynamic and growing Chicago sales office. The ideal candidate is curious about the media industry, passionate about public radio and television, detail-oriented, and has a proven ability to get things done. This internship would require you to assist with client proposals, prospecting, competitive research, organizing marketing information, and campaign analysis. This is a paid internship with an immediate start date.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assist sales managers with client prospecting and research for client meetings
•Work alongside sales managers to learn proposal development, sales strategy and ad inventory.
•Use research databases to identify potential advertisers
•Conduct research projects and analyze campaign performance for potential case studies
•Use knowledge of the media industry to support sales efforts
•Assist marketing with proposals and other projects
•Provide some administrative support including coordinating conference calls and meetings
•Other special projects as assigned.

•Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in media or communications
•Strong research skills
•Ability to work under tight deadlines
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent organizational, writing, presentation and proofreading skills
•Ability to learn new research database interfaces
•Ability to collaborate with various departments and projects across the company including marketing, sales, finance and operations.
