Bio: 

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine is seeking editorial interns for the summer semester. We look for candidates with strong writing ability, creativity, enthusiasm and an eye for style. Interests in home design and architecture are plusses. A strong handling of grammar is essential. Some knowledge of the AP or Chicago manuals of style is preferable, as is some experience with Photoshop and QuarkXpress. Duties will possibly include the following on a rotating basis:

• Fact-checking articles and resource listings
• Editing third-party submissions to our online calendar for conformation to our editorial style
• Calling in stock imagery for market stories
• Corresponding with local retailers and PR reps in a professional manner both on the phone and via e-mail
• Writing briefs for the Arts Calendar and possibly helping to write and produce larger sections
• If this goes smoothly, the opportunity to write short features for the magazine as well as AtlantaHomesMag.com
• Aiding the editorial team in copyediting and proofing page layouts during production
• Assisting on photo shoots
• Brainstorming, pitching for and writing blogs
• Transferring text from Quark files to text documents for upload to the Web
• Converting photos in Photoshop for use on the Web
• Mailing issues of the magazine to recipients upon request
• Helping to keep the magazine archives and PR submissions organized
• Occasional office administrative tasks

Bio: 

Since I Do For Brides was first published in 1989, our goal has been to create a comprehensive yet easy-to-read publication that assists brides-to-be as they choose wedding services and plan memorable weddings. By keeping in touch with our readers through focus groups and encouraging real brides to contribute their thoughs to the pages of I Do, we have consistently created a successful publication that simultaneously educates and entertains. Our mission is to continue this goal and to make I Do For Brides the premier magazine for brides-to-be.

Internship Description: 

• Must be a college junior or senior enrolled in a journalism program, or a recent college graduate with a journalism degree.
• Superior knowledge of AP style.
• Organization and extraordinary attention to detail are absolute musts! The more OCD you are, the better.
• 16 to 32 hours per week, depending on course credit requirements, if applicable. At least one eight-hour, in-office workday per week is required.
• 3.4 minimum GPA.
