1. Be familiar with all company social platforms. You should have knowledge of the company website and any social media handles they use. Try to have a good understanding of the company's clients and the tone they use when describing what they do online. Also, note how they represent themselves on their social media pages.
2. Track your company in the news. Make sure to set Google Alerts for the company and their keywords so that any time they're mentioned in the news, you're aware. You should be able to go in the first day aware of the company's recent news breaks.
3. Who runs the company? Be sure to check out the About Us section on the website. Do some digging to find out who the top executives are in the company. It's great to have an understanding of the chain of command on your first day. To dig a little deeper, you can look them up on LinkedIn to see if you have any mutual friends. What do you have in common? Did any of them graduate from your alma mater? You get the idea!
