As an intern, it’s important to reflect on these things you’ve learned throughout the your time at your company. Here are some things to think about throughout your entire internship this semester!
1. Give it time.
When I started my internship, all I wanted to do was be given assignments and have tons of tasks to be responsible for. However, my bosses preferred to ease me into things. At first, instead of going along with it I got annoyed and didn’t take the time to realize that there was a purpose for this. I ended up loving my internship by the third week and gained insight by watching how things work before doing them.
2. It’s the little things
A lot of the time, I felt that the tasks I was doing weren’t important. But more frequently than not, I was praised for the work I had done. Whether it was filing papers so that they were more organized and accessible, to making sure all of the social media outlets were up to date with content, the things I felt didn’t matter ended up being a huge help to my supervisors.
3. You don’t know everything
There were times I would hear my bosses conversing and would think to myself that I had a better idea of how to go about planning things. The more you listen, the more you learn. My perspective was drastically changed and I’m now able to think much more outside the box because of it!
