Summer’s here and you have a lot of time on your hands. But before you know it, the summer will be gone. So here’s my unofficial four must do’s before summer ends.
1. Read a good book. Whether it’s a book written by your role model or one of the books on the New York Times Best Seller list, the summer is a great time to catch on up on reading especially right before bed or on the beach!
2. Clean up your social media. Before you start applying for those internships for the fall or winter, make sure that your Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and any other social media sites you have are cleaned up. Remember, first impressions are the ones that last!
3. Polish your resume. What makes you stand out from everyone else? Decide on what’s important for the job you’re applying for and reorganize your resume before you send them out. Employers will be seeing lots of resumes, so make yours the one they stop and read all of.
4. Learn a new skill. Do you really want to take a class in the fall, but are scared because you don’t have any knowledge about that subject? Well, what a better time than the summer to learn something new! Look up websites or books that could help you learn a new skill. Whether it’s making a website, taking great pictures, or speaking a new language, these skills will add a unique touch to your resume.
With these four things in mind, you can be assured that you won’t get bored. So get ready, grab a book, fix your social media & resume, learn a new skill, and have fun! The summer is what you make of it. Make yours productive and be ready for for the fall. Good luck!
