This post it brought to you by CollegeCandy (College Candy.com), the college girl's online destination for love, life and style!
Here’s the thing, it’s summer and you want to get out of the town that reminds you of high school. The problem is, the college you love and miss so dearly ran off with your funds and now you barely have enough money to fill up your gas tank. Well don’t completely give up hope! If you grab enough friends to chip in, you can have a summer of cheap travels and priceless memories.
So pack up your summer tote equipped with sheer dresses and that bikini you splurged too much on, and get to traveling! It doesn’t have to be as daunting and expensive as your parents say it is, and it’s time you take a trip for yourself.
Check below for our top 5 cities to visit on that college budget! I promise you won’t regret it.
Savannah, Georgia Though things get pricey in the historic district, Savannah has reasonable lodging deals anywhere else. Bike along the mansions and parks while enjoying a drink or two. Fun fact: Savannah's open container law allows you to drink in the public sunshine! Not too shabby, eh?
Pensacola, Florida Head over to Pensacola during October and you'll run into their annual beach festival De Luna Fest. What's better than staying tan through fall? This would be a perfect trip to take for recent graduates. One last "hurrah" before becoming a real person is well deserved.
Nashville, Tennessee Similar to Savannah, Georgia, it's best to lodge outside of downtown Nashville due to the high touristy costs. However, downtown is at it's best at night when the street performers and party scene are going on down Music Row, so be sure to take advantage of your "off the beaten path" stay during the day! Another perk is that you won't find better whiskey than that straight out of Tennessee. Need I say anything else?
Lancaster, Pennsylvania Besides the fact that it's insanely scenic and all things Amish, Lancaster is also close to the Disney of the East -- Hershey Park. It's also the dirty minded cousin of Philly with nearby towns named Bird in Hand, Blue Ball, Intercourse (I'm not making this up), and Virginville. Photo album of the year, or what?
Asheville, North Carolina This is the perfect place to get in touch with your natural self what with the gorgeous mountains and white water rafting possibilities. As the cheapest on east side, you'll never be bored and you'll be glad to have a little extra cash in your pocket. Asheville is also home to a plethora of art, so discover it before the hipsters do!
