Being an intern means constantly running around, completing tasks, and working on projects. That having been said, it can become difficult for one to maintain a polished look while at an internship. But have no fear because I am going to give you a guide on how you can always look your best, no matter what the situation, while at your internship! I hope this guide will help to make your internship experience that much more enjoyable, while making you feel more confident and comfortable in your internship attire!
Find several easy up-do’s for your hair.
I have found that wearing your hair up to your internship is an excellent way to keep it out of your face while you are moving around and completing your regular tasks. By finding chic up-do alternatives for your hair you will still show that you put effort into your look but it allows you to be more comfortable. I have also found that wearing your hair up prevents you from being tempted to play with it while working.
A great pair of pants is your new secret weapon.
After my first two internships, I realized that since I was running around so frequently, dropping off and delivering packages, that skirts and dresses were not the most appropriate attire. Therefore, I began wearing tailored trousers and cropped jeans so that it would be easier for me to move around without having to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions. Pants are also an excellent way to look more professional at your internship since they can easily be paired with a great high heel shoe or a structured blazer.
Never go anywhere without your “glam bag!”
A great way for you to quickly fix your hair and makeup throughout the day is by having your very own “glam bag” that can be kept in your purse at all times. The best items to keep in the small bag are gum, lotion, chapstick, lip gloss, mascara, compact powder, facial spray, a comb, bobby pins, etc. By having these items on-hand, it is easier for you to touch up yourself during the day and make sure that you are always looking presentable.
Accessories are everything.
As an intern, it is likely that you don’t have the largest budget for apparel and accessories so it is very important that you use your money to best accessories the staple pieces already in your wardrobe. For example, if you were to have a black skirt and white blouse, you could pair them with a polka-dot shoe and/or a brightly colored handbag to make the look stand out. It is much simpler and better on your wallet to accessorize with shoes, handbags, and jewelry than it is to purchase an entirely new outfit.
As you can see, it is not difficult to ensure that you always look great at every internship. All that you must remember is to look professional and well put together. This guide has proven to be very beneficial for my internship career and it’s my wish that it assisted you to look and feel your best just as it did with me.
