There is one problem with being a self-proclaimed fashionista—the cost that comes with loving and purchasing beautiful clothing and accessories. I mean, yes I love Prabal and Stella, but there is probably a slim chance my entire wardrobe is going to be made up of all of my favorite designer pieces. So while I save and invest on a few must-have pieces the rest of the time I look for my favorite trends at reasonable prices.
Here are a few of my favorite Spring 2012 looks that you’ll be able afford on that intern budget!
Small Bag, Big Detail
Valentino showed small handbags that had fun stud and chain detailing. I love the edgy appeal that this type of embellishment has on a seemingly classic bag. Check out this ‘Tasselled Messenger Bag’ from Zara.
Tribal and ethnic inspiration was huge on the Spring runways—a cultural plethora! You don’t have to go as bold as Donna Karan did (though striking), find what works for you: large or small. This ‘Mielie’ necklace from Anthropologie is a good way to start your cultural collection.
Okay, so this denim dress wasn’t seen on the catwalk at fashion week, but it was seen on Alexa Chung who was attending Spring 2012 Fashion Week so I say it counts. Denim dresses are like the staple of any spring wardrobe and I found any reason I could to show you this Gap 1969 denim shirt dress… so cute!
