I am sure that everyone has heard about this craze that always gets rave reviews. But what exactly is P90X and how does it work? A couple of nights ago I was talking to a friend across the hall who has been doing this program for a couple of weeks now, and I decided to give it a try.
P90X is a program that spans out over the course of 90 days. The program consists of a nutritional guide, calendar, fitness plan, and a series of DVDs. There are also several varieties of techniques that include yoga, cardio, abs and strength training. There is a total of 12 DVDs and each targets a different muscle group and skill. This part of the workout typically last just under an hour. An abdominal workout is added to the mix three times a week, which increases the workout time by about 15 minutes.
The nutrition plan that goes along with this program is broken up into three sections that each last 30 days. The first 30 days are about establishing the relationship between energy and carbohydrates. The second phase becomes more intense and increases the amount of carbs that you intake. The third and final phase is geared towards the amount that an athlete would eat.
This program was released in 2004 and is hosted and taught by exercise instructor Tony Horton. Over 3 million copies have been sold, which makes it Beach Body’s best selling product. My personal experience is that if you are committed to this program you will see great results. It is very intense but the results are definitely going to be worth it!
