What Would Blair Waldorf Do?

“Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen.” – Blair Waldorf

B idol here,

It doesn’t matter if you were (or still are, like me) a Gossip Girl fan or not, you know who Blair Waldorf is. One of the most well-known fictional Upper East siders, who is famous for wearing a headband, is also an inspirational woman. Inspirational is not the first thing you come up with when you think of Queen B right? Well, here is a little homage to Blair Waldorf and how thinking like her can get you where you want.

“I’m not a stop along the way. I’m a destination.”
For starters, B is always confident. Whether she is trying out a new fashion trend, or trying to get ahead in the work place (remember when she interned for W magazine?), Blair always has tons of confidence in who she is. This is the most important thing to have in life, confidence in who you are and what you can do.

Second, always look the part.
The one thing everyone can agree on is that B’s fashion sense is impeccable. Her school, work, party, and even sleep attire was always to die for. Although not all of us can afford the clothes she wore, we all can afford to look good always. Having the perfect interview outfit is one thing, but looking work-ready is a definite must. When you meet people for the first time, the first thing they do is look at how you are dressed. This is one the ways that got Blair to where she wanted to be, and it will get you to where you want to be.

Third, be composed and keep your cool.
No matter how many times we saw Blair throw temper tantrums, she made sure to never to do in front of the person, or people, who made her upset. This is something that we all need to learn, as we can often blow up at the wrong time. If you are at your workplace and a co-worker says something to upset you, keep your cool.

“I’m the best of the best. I’m Blair Waldorf.”
Although B would definitely have a nasty comeback, it is best to not say something that could have you out of a job. Instead, a small stare down to intimidate the other person will suffice. Later, you can pull them aside and say that you will not allow them to disrespect you.

“I know what I want, and I’m going to get it.”
Last, but definitely not least, never give up. Throughout six seasons; through hundreds of backstabs, lies, and schemes, Blair Waldorf never gave up, even when her whole world seemed to be crashing down at full speed. Although she was on the brink of giving up on her love for Chuck, giving up on her mother’s line, and worse, giving up on herself, she always had Serena around to keep her going. Even though it is your life, and you are the one who has full responsibility for what happens in it, you do have to interact with many people on a daily basis. Having a strong support system is the best, and healthiest, thing to have. Remember, you can have your cake and eat it too!

And some last advice from the Queen herself, “Have a little faith, and if that doesn’t work, have a lot of mimosas.”

Next time you are in a messy situation, or things are not going the way you planned, just ask yourself one question; What Would Blair Waldorf Do?
