WHAT TO BRING
Elastics/ hair clip
Unlimited Metro Card
Something to snack on
ALWAYS wear flats. Don’t be fooled, even flats can be uncomfortable. It’s really all about being comfortable!
Whether you are a production intern, assisting with a photo shoot, or helping with fashion week fittings, make sure to dress accordingly.
While on set, you will be dressing models, steaming garments, and assisting the crew for up to 12 hours. That being said, opt for flat shoes and comfortable fabrics. My go- to outfit is usually a pair of black skinny jeans, a loose fitted white shirt, and black Vanz. I love Vanz because I can wear them with all types of outfits and still feel fashionable. Nike and Puma also make great options!
PRESS EVENTS & INTERVIEWS
As an editorial intern, you may be asked to attend events of behalf of the company. When I attend red carpets, press junkets, and events I always make sure to dress well. I firmly agree with the saying ‘Dress like the job you want, not the job you’ve got.’ When in doubt, I lean towards wearing black or neural colors, however wear what makes you feel confident! No matter what, do not forget to bring a journal or business cards. You never know who you will meet!
If you are heading straight to an event from your internship, bring a few things in your purse. I like to bring:
Mascara or an eyelash curler: Always a great way to look more awake!
Foundation: For touch ups
(On several occasions I have brought a pair of heels or even earrings. However this isn’t always necessary)
