Whether you’re picking up a quick snack or hosting friends to watch the big game, the famous green gooey dip is a perfect snack to serve along with chips or vegetables. The benefits of making your own homemade guacamole far outweigh those of purchasing it in-store. I found a recipe for guacamole and it has been a hit every time.

-2 avocados
-1/2 lemon, juiced
-2 tablespoons chopped onion
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-2 tablespoons olive oil

-Cut avocados into halves and remove the seeds
-Scoop out the pulp and mash the avocado with a fork
-Stir in lemon juice, onion, salt, and olive oil
-Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour before serving

Feel free to add in other ingredients such as tomato, black beans, cilantro, pepper, etc. I often add in all of these to make for a chunkier guacamole.

Not only will your friends and family be impressed with your skills in the kitchen, but also the health benefits of this recipe make it a win. The avocado in guacamole contains vitamins, minerals, and a healthy serving of fat. Guacamole is also cholesterol-free! Although the guacamole sold in the grocery store may look legitimate, make sure you check the ingredients before you buy. The main ingredient should be avocado, but many manufacturers use fillers instead. So next time you need a delicious and healthy appetizer, refer back to this recipe and enjoy!
