As I’m sure you have all heard once before, studying abroad can be the most life-changing, exciting events in your life...but what if you found a way to intern abroad?
At my university (the University of Arizona) the major I declared made it very difficult to study abroad and graduate on time. Because I always knew I wanted to go abroad and get an internship in fashion, I found a way to collaborate the two ideas and research companies that allowed me to “intern abroad” over the summer allowing me to stay on track with school and giving me the experience of a lifetime. I found many programs that had a lot of opportunities and adventures, but the price was very expensive. Because the price was so expensive, I decided to get a job for the next half of the year to save up money for the program I concluded to go too. I chose the program Experiences International Abroad because they gave the cheapest price with the most opportunities out of all the others that I had researched.
Experiences International Abroad (EI Abroad) gave me my dream internship in fashion public relations in London (one of the top fashion cities in the world) for two months, with a very luxurious housing placement. The internship I was placed in is at Bright Light PR, which is a great public relations firm that has a lot of clients that they have helped put into top magazines across the UK, some examples are Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Marie Claire. EI Abroad had a staff member from their program pick me up at the airport and a very friendly team that wanted to be my friend as well as my supervisors. The program chose 12 other interns to live with me and they all had the same motivation and travelling desires that i had, which made it extremely easy to make friends in a brand new city overseas from everyone and everything I have known. The internship is full time (from 9:30am – 6:00pm Monday through Friday) and I just started last week, and have already learned a lot and attended my first real fashion show in Graduate Fashion Week as part of my job! The new culture, food, people, and accents surrounding me make this country an amazing place to be for the summer and a great learning experience. Although I have only been up in London for little over a week, I can already tell you I have had the time of my life and this is by far the best decision I have ever made.
