Intern Queen gives Quinnipiac Students a peak into her Kingdom

This blog was written by Madison, our campus ambassador from Quinnipiac University.

Wednesday night on February 8th, I walked into the Burt Khan Student Center at Quinnipiac University, a timid, nervous, and quite frankly, out of place freshman. However, I left a confident intern catcher determined to do what it takes to have my dream internship. Why the change in only 60 minutes? Because a poised twenty-seven year old named Lauren Berger shared her story that night, a story that forever changed my college life.

At first I rolled my eyes at the idea when my mother sent me three consecutive emails saying “THE INTERN QUEEN IS COMING TO QUINNIPIAC YOU HAVE TO GO”. My response, “Who?”. My mother had been hounding me to find internships since the day I was accepted to college, and I always thought I would cross that bridge when I came to it as a junior. I thought “who is going to hire a college freshman with no experience in the fashion and entertainment industry” where my dream job had always been. Boy was I wrong. With in the first 20 minutes I was shocked to find out all the internships Lauren had gotten since her freshman year of college! I couldn’t believe it, she had been working for New York and California Public Relation Firms, become buddies with Ken Baker who sent her on a two day trip to Barbados, and while spending time on Hollywood sets she managed to attend college and graduate with a degree. Can you say Wonder Woman? I wasted my time dreaming of what it would be like to work for Vogue or E! Entertainment, and after the motivational tips and tricks from the Intern Queen herself, I’ll be shocked if you don’t seem my name affiliated with those organizations someday. The Intern Queen definitely left her mark on the entire student body who attended that night, and quite possibly could have inspired and Intern Princess in the making.
