Internship Description of Duties:
THE MISSION OF THE JOB
Open to recent college graduates only, this paid and highly competitive opportunity will give four aspiring communication professionals the chance to learn from and work alongside the team at Small Girls as a contributing member. Each fellow will join us in June 5 days per week for the 12-week intensive program, undergoing public relations training and jumpstarting their communications career.
THE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTCOMES
There is no typical day at SGPR for fellows and employees alike, and as such responsibilities may range from the simple (ex. assembling mailers) to the more complex (ex. drafting pitches and producing events). Each fellow will have the opportunity to sit in on client calls, participate in company meetings and raid the office snack supply.
A hybrid educational and professional environment, all summer fellows will go through a program doing hands-on work with a team at Small Girls in addition to attending weekly learning sessions taught by both internal staff and external members brought in from the greater PR + marketing fields. Fellows will be trained (and become proficient) in the technology, tools and tactics inherent to agency world as a result of the program. Each fellow will participate in drafting and writing press materials, sourcing and curating relevant media lists, ideating creative storytelling opportunities, researching client-specific industries, participating in brainstorms, pitching journalists & bloggers, as well as potentially assisting in creative production (events, mailers, etc.) should something arise during the term on a fellow's team.
