Marketing & Communications
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is a multi-sport youth organization with millions of athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers who participate in 36 sports. The AAU Junior Olympic Games is the premier event of the AAU program and is the largest, multi-sports youth events in the country. Over a 2-week period, over 15,000 athletes participate in 25 sports.
The Marketing & Communications Intern will assist with a variety of projects with the AAU Sports Program. The internship is available May through August (start time negotiable) and is based out of the AAU National Office located in Lake Buena Vista (Orlando), Florida.
Overview
To market AAU more fully to our current and potential customers through marketing and media channels

Duration of Internship is May through mid-August

Intern will work at the AAU National Office located in Orlando, Florida near Walt Disney World Resort

Intern must be able to travel to Detroit, Michigan from July 23 to August 2 to help with Media. Travel, housing and per diem are provided during the event.

Internship provides a multitude of event management and operations experience
Description

Assist in updating and building the marketing database.

Help write, produce and disseminate press releases, stories for web site, programs and media guides.

Help in creating Mass Emails, Promotion Materials and/or Newsletters.

Work with National Sport Chairs in conjunction with their events in regards to press releases, stories, etc…

Assist Operations department during events.

Help with the AAU Junior Olympic Games with credential fulfillment, pre-event stories and press releases, post-event stories and press releases.

Provide support in the coordination of the Celebration of Athletes (Opening Ceremony) at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be organized and able to work through a project with little supervision.

Strong communication skills both verbal and written are required.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and having some knowledge of Access.

Must have proficient typing skills
