This "hands-on" opportunity to learn about the online media publishing industry will give you a real look inside creating editorial content, advertisements, and marketing campaigns.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
-Updating the content for the website and blog
-Editing stories and photos as well as creating headlines
-Scheduling appointments for Editor-in Chief and journalists(writers)
-Updating & maintaining the Assignment Boards for upcoming projects.
-Keeping track of deadlines for writers(journalists) & photographers
-Working with PR companies to publicize local events
-Administrative duties such as creating contact lists and filing reports etc (may be require sometimes)
-Attending social events to representing the magazine
-You are the point of contact person for PR firms working with us.
-Liaison between interns and Editor
-Additional point person for planning events

PRIOR TO JUNE 1ST, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO INTERN IN THE OFFICE FOR TRAINING.

AFTER MAY 31ST THIS WILL BE  A VIRTUAL POSITION DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS (JUNE-JULY-AUGUST) YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK IN THE OFFICE FOR ONE WEEK A MONTH DURING THE ENTIRE SUMMER INTERNSHIP- NO EXCEPTIONS- (Lunch will be provided) 

YOU WILL MEET WITH THE EDITOR IN CHIEF ONCE A WEEK FOR A WORKING LUNCH.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to obtain school credit

Experience with an Internet publishing company, a plus.

Excellent creative writing skills, attention to detail, grammar, and spelling. Prefer a BA/BS in journalism, English, or communications, but not necessary.

Experience with Photoshop or other image editing programs.

Creative & resourceful, a go-getter who does whatever it takes to get things done.

Self-managing/self-directed - Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication

Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.

Has own laptop and Smartphone - Professional phone and email etiquette.
