About Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE): 

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is a nonprofit organization whose vision is that every young person will find a pathway to prosperity. Our mission is to provide entrepreneurship education to young people from low-income communities. Since 1987, NFTE has worked with over 500,000 young people worldwide with programs in 21 states and 13 countries.

Requirements/Necessary Skills for Recruitment: 

The Digital Media Intern will play an active role in the development of NFTE’s online community. Working with the Senior Director of Marketing & Events and the Senior Director of Communications, the intern will have a primary focus on keeping NFTE web properties current and fresh and will also create and publish content that is relevant to our web and social media audiences. He/she will regularly analyze and report on the activity NFTE digital activities.

He/she will also assist in maintaining NFTE’s archive of digital images, videos, and other content. The intern will learn how to reach communities, and promote events or programs through the internet and gain experience in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance.

*This is a part-time unpaid internship. Candidates must be able to receive academic credit for internship.


Social Media

Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to NFTE audiences and that invite conversation and interaction to drive expansion of NFTE’s social media presence
Completes other social media projects as assigned.

Conducts a regular review of content, soliciting updates from appropriate NFTE staff and updating individual pages.
Limited redesign and creation of individual web pages as assigned.
Posts updates to the website slider in a timely manner using appropriate content.
Digital Media

Uploads NFTE photos and videos to the appropriate server account.
Organizes digital images according to purpose (print or web) and designated program categories.
Completes other digital media projects as assigned.

Regularly observes the online activity of model organizations researches and reports on “social media best practices”.
Completes other research projects as assigned.
Analytics and Reporting

Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the NFTE website.
Uses Hootsuite to assess trends and activity on the NFTE Facebook and Twitter pages.
Under the supervision of the Marketing and Communications Administrator, reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach.


Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.
Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft applications, basic photo-editing software, and internet browsers. Experience with Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
Basic familiarity with HTML.
Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google+.
Available to work 6-9 hours per week.
Candidates should maintain a positive attitude under pressure, exhibit a strong work ethic, and enjoy working with a wide range of personalities. This internship will benefit someone who is interested in marketing, community relations, and audience development.
