About She's the First: 

She's the First is a non-profit fighting gender inequality through education by supporting girls who will be the first in their families to graduate high school and by training students everywhere to be global citizens.

Our interns serve as primary aides to our five full-time staff members in the areas of communications, development, and programming. We are now accepting applications for the fall session (Feb-May) and specifically looking for a video intern. As an STF fall intern, you'll support the production of our visual storytelling campaigns and work on a variety of committees and projects within She's the First. This is a proactive internship where your work and ideas have a direct, visible impact.

Requirements/Necessary Skills for Recruitment:

Excellent video, Google Apps, email, and social media skills.

Strong follow-up. You keep projects on track with effective to-do lists & deadlines.

The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

A social media evangelist: You believe in the power of networks, online & offline, to turn simple, small ideas into big, groundbreaking movements & shape educational models that will have a life impact on someone.

Your Strengths:

Need-to-have: Mastery of video production and editing (preferably on a Mac),, familiarity with YouTube, Flickr, and Instagram, fluency in the languages of social media, tech-savvy, superior organization skills, high levels of professionalism

Nice-to-have: Graphic design, coding skills, natural writing abilities

Relevant Majors:

Communications, Media, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design

REQUIREMENTS

Time: We’ll need you for 15-20 hours a week, at least two days a week.

Location: 590 Avenue of the Americas, Chelsea, NYC.

Education: You must be currently enrolled at a college or university to receive course credit.

Compensation: The Video intern will receive a stipend of $350.  We’ll work with your college & university to make sure you receive college credit. Perks of the job include: Free entry to events that we host and the chance to represent She’s the First at exclusive events or conferences we are invited to, and to sit in on meetings with our awesome partners, volunteers, and donors. Internship Description of Duties: 
Responsibilities: You will be directly assisting the Development and Communications Manager and Chief Executive Officer with the video needs of She’s the First. Your primary focus will be creating and editing She’s the First footage for our various storytelling campaigns. Duties include: Assist with executing various video campaigns and storytelling initiatives Editing videos as needed and creation of thumbnails Maintaining upkeep of our video directory and YouTube channel Being an excellent brand ambassador Blogging & social media support Photo research and timelines
