About Tote Magazine: 

Tote Magazine is an online lifestyle magazine for young women, ages 16-25. We are redefining the next generation by shaking up how young women ingest digital information and build communities. We aren’t afraid to break the rules and neither are Tote’s readers. We’re giving our readers (and writers) a call to action. We want them to redefine the conversation about, for and between women. We want young women to be curious, to question everything, to think innovatively and to always share their thoughts.

Requirements/Necessary Skills for Recruitment: 

Graphic Design:

Graphic design interns will gather an in-depth understanding of Tote’s brand and tone of voice. They will demonstrate the ability to use our voice to develop a directed visual identity. They will have the opportunity to create graphics for the website, social media channels, promotional items and third party needs. In addition, they will develop communication with other team members and learn the needs of the brand and its partners in order to transform it visually.

Requirements:
Graphic design or art major
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to work independently
Ability to collaborate with a team

Editorial:

Editorial interns will learn how content is gathered and curated to effectively come together for each issue or to stand alone on the website. They will have the opportunity to pitch ideas for features, web posts, direction of content, etc. In addition to working extensively with content ideas and curation, all interns have the opportunity to contribute articles for the magazine and posts for the website. Interns will learn our brand and understand what topics work for the magazine and how to stay consistent within the brand. Interns will also receive the opportunity to see the inner workings of other departments within the brand.

Requirements:
Journalism or English major preferred
Able to write with a strong voice
Strong editing skills a plus
Ability to work independently

Social Media:

Social media interns will gather an in-depth understanding of Tote’s brand and tone of voice. They demonstrate the ability to use our voice through our various social media platforms. They will have the opportunity to work solely on one or more social media platforms, creating different social media campaigns, participating in Twitter chats, live tweeting TV shows, and gain an understand of social media's impact and use for an online magazine. In addition, they will develop communication with other team members and learn the needs of the brand and its partners in order to transform it clearly through social media. Please be aware that you will be working solely on social media. If that is not your interest, please do not apply.

This is a VIRTUAL internship so no relocating is required. You will work from home and we will be required to communicate weekly via Skype meetings, constant email communication, etc.

Requirements:
Knowledge of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram
Strong communication skills
Strong computer skills
Strong writing skills
Self sufficiency and independence
Detail oriented
Ability to collaborate with a team
Skills of scheduling services like Klout, Buffer, or Hootsuite a plus
Experience with Google Analytics a plus
