Internship Program: The candidate has the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector and contribute to development and fundraising efforts. The internship program is open year-round. Applicants seeking academic credit must make their own arrangements with their host institution in advance.
Responsibilities: Dress for Success Worldwide-West has an opening for a Special Events Intern starting in September and ending in November. The incumbent will report to the Development Manager and be responsible for assisting in all aspects of event planning and execution for all of the organization’s events including: Yoga in The Park, The Power Walk for Dress for Success, Shop for Success and other special events. Must be available to attend and assist on some evenings and weekends. The Special Events Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in event management and fundraising in a professional work environment. The Special Events Intern will assist with such areas as auction outreach, corporate research, and event management, marketing/promotion of events, gift bag solicitation, and administrative tasks.
Work with the Development Manager and Development and Corporate Relations Intern to identify, solicit and secure in-kind donations of product for prizes, auctions, raffles, giveaways.
Assists with orientation of event volunteers.
Maintain current information and submit updates for all online event pages.
Research corporate partners for potential partnerships.
Work with our Director of Operations to promote and market the events.
Aid in the coordination of event logistics, vendor management, etc.
Administrative duties as assigned including maintaining several excel spreadsheets.
Attend all events and assist with set-up, breakdown, check-in, information table. Duties may include assembling red carpet step & repeat for photos, event signage, taking pictures, tabling, etc.
Requirements: Passion for Dress for Success’ mission. Interest in fundraising, events, media, women issues and:
Good organizational and time management skills
Willingness and ability to work well with others
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Polished written and verbal communication skills
Must have attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Must be able and willing to pick up 40lbs
Hours: 10-15 hours a week, days and times negotiable.
Compensation: School credit only.
