WebMD’s Corporate Communications team is establishing new processes, programs and relationships to help us promote and protect the WebMD brand more effectively so that it is preferred by consumers, health care professionals, advertisers, lawmakers and investors. These efforts span media and influencer relations; internal communications; messaging and positioning; conferences and events; competitive communications; and public affairs to name a few. An extra resource would help us build out key initiatives while also taking care of important day-to-day foundational communications activities.
* Develop and update media lists for PR initiatives
* Create/update media pitch documents (expert documents)
* Gather materials internally for media pitching (screenshots for reporters, industry reports, data)
* Provide backgrounders on publications and reporters
* Track and organize placements (edit video clips, scan articles, etc.)
* Respond to internal requests for PR items (media clips, dubbing, transcripts, bios, headshots)
* Measurement of placements (insert reach for outlets)
* Media monitoring of brand and industry (including traditional media as well as blogs & social media feeds)
* Research award applications
* Monitoring WebMD’s social media presence & industry coverage for PR opportunities
* Support corporate and industry events
Requirements: 'Excellent written and oral communication skills. 'Strong organization skills 'Working toward bachelor degree 'Solid Excel, Powerpoint and Presentation skills. 'Interest in Online or Healthcare Marketing.
Solid understanding of media and PR. Working toward communications degree. Prior internship experience in Corporate Communications, Corporate or Agency Public Relations, or media/journalism is a must. Proficient with Excel and Word, experienced with online/new media. Experience with Vocus, Critical Mention or similar PR monitoring tools is a plus.
