About West Indies Wear:

Inspired by walks along sparkling, turquoise shores and the sun-drenched glow that emerges from true relaxation in perfect paradise, West Indies Resort Wear provides island-lovers with comfortable, soft-cotton island wear and sarongs in fresh Caribbean colours and coastal prints.

Australian-born fashion designer Kim Van Loo is the former Head Designer for Billabong South Africa, designed collections for Caribbean sailing regattas for many years and has worked as a designer in Australia, London, and Egypt.

Originally designed from the island-hopping, small sailboat shared by Van Loo, her husband and baby daughter, each WIW collection continues to draw inspiration from the vibrant hues of the tropics, stunning beaches, and unhurried pace of island life.

“In the early days, we would sail from island to island, and anchor off these amazing Caribbean resorts. I would iron all the samples with an old fashioned stove top iron, get all dressed up, and my husband would take me ashore in the dinghy, sample bag in-hand. Once on the dock, I would slip on my glamorous sandals, brush my hair and head up to see the boutique buyers. It was a great contrast between our simple boating life and the glamorous side of fashion, and I loved it.”

West Indies Wear is carried in resort, coastal and island boutiques throughout the US (including Virigin Islands, Hawaii, Puerto Rico), the Bahamas, and Caribbean and online at
