Thanks to high-profile events like New York Fashion Week and the Met Gala, everyone knows that New York City is a fashion capital. But the city is about much more than design. New York is home to major apparel and retail firms, each of which is fueled by strong business leaders.
In recognition of this, the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Parsons The New School for Design have developed Fashion Campus NYC. This exciting, free program is designed to expose college students like you to the variety of business-related career paths within NYC’s fashion industry, including merchandising, product development, marketing, finance and buying.
If you have an interest in the fashion industry, we want you to join us this year for the second annual Fashion Campus NYC, which will be held Friday, June 15th, and Saturday, June 16th, 2012. The event will include a panel discussion featuring young professionals; a networking event where you’ll have the chance to meet fashion executives and human resources representatives; and small-group advising sessions. And, it’s all capped off by a keynote address by Rachel Roy.
To be eligible, you must be a college student in good standing, have a for-credit or paid internship in NYC this summer, have at least a 3.0 GPA and be able to attend all of the program’s events. If this is you, act fast! Applications must be received by May 23rd.
Fashion Campus NYC is truly the start of something great for the interns who attend. Some of last year’s attendees were able to make connections that lead to subsequent internships, while others went on to be accepted into our sister program, Fashion Draft NYC, which recruits top talent for full-time jobs in New York’s fashion industry.
