Look Great At Work - Even When It's So HOT Outside!

Internships can be difficult to snag -- especially in NYC. Once you’ve landed a summer gig, it's time to look up to par. I've completed two beauty internships and along the way I've picked up a few tricks for how to look great, even during the hot summer months. If you're completing a beauty internship at a magazine or public relations company, you're likely to be surrounded by fashionistas everyday. We all want to look fabulous while in the office. Your first day is a chance to make a lasting impression. Here are a few tips to create a memorable yet professional beauty look.

1) Stay hydrated

Drinking lots of water and eating foods with high water content (like fruit) is key in getting that fresh look in the summertime. Throughout the day, maintain a flawless face by using refreshing mist. This can help set your makeup after your morning commute or lunch break. Try Fix+ spray from MAC cosmetics. The travel size bottle will fit right into your purse!

2) Cleanse oily skin

Clear your pores by cleansing with an exfoliating face wash. This will help combat oily skin. It will also make your skin look clearer overtime if done on regular basis. Try Clinique's 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula for a smoother look and feel.

3) Light makeup application

Light makeup application is perfect for the summer. Try a pressed powder, subtle eye-shadow and lip-gloss to create your office-ready look. For a sun kissed glow, apply bronzer to your cheekbones. Try Baked Mineral Bronzing Powder from Victoria's Secret.

4) Avoid frizz and keep cool

Hair is prone to get dry in the humid summer months. To avoid frizz and keep your hair in place, use styling products that help tame flyaways. Try Extra Strength Formula Hair Serum by John Frieda to control your tresses. Thinking of heat-friendly styles can also do the trick. One popular and easy hair-do is the high bun. A few bobby pins, rubber bands and holding spray or pomade will allow your hair to look neat and fashionable while interning. Keeping your hair out of your face can also help you keep cool!

5) Moisturize dry skin

Skin that is exposed to the sun on your arms or legs can often become dry during the summer. Be sure to moisturize these areas to prevent a flaky appearance. If you have to commute to or from your internship, be sure to use body lotion multiple times a day as part of your routine. Try Lubriderm Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen which has an extra benefit. It contains SPF to protect your skin from sunburn.
