We all have our own ways of keeping pictures of places we want to go to or quotes we love or those perfect outfit ideas. I plaster Marc Jacobs ads on my dresser and write quotes on sticky notes and put them above my desk. One of my teachers had us each make a dream board once with pictures that showed what we wanted to accomplish someday. Now with Pinterest, you can like and pin your favorite outfit inspiration, workout tips, recipes, travel destinations and words of wisdom all on your own virtual inspiration boards.
For those of you who aren’t already addicted to the site, you will be by the time you type it into your search bar. And for those of you who are already a member of Pinterest Anonymous, here are some cool ways to use Pinterest that you may not have thought of.
Follow your favorite companies: I am absolutely so jealous of the social media intern that gets to run the Pinterest account for companies like ModCloth and Her Campus. Pinterest is a great way to see what the office is buzzing about and the types of trends that a company has its eye on. It’s also a great way to warm up an interview and feel like you can relate more to a company’s vision.
Follow discount websites: I personally won’t think to check on a website every day for the latest random deal based on the “out of sight, out of mind” principle. On Pinterest I follow Studentrate Trends. They work with huge brands to give college students discounts on products that we love. It’s so much easier to see the deals on Pinterest rather than scrolling through a wordy list of brands.
Follow Intern Queen: Our Pinterest page is absolutely fabulous if I may say so myself. The other Campus Ambassadors and myself are completely obsessed with Lauren’s internship outfit suggestions, pins of favorite places in the best cities to intern in, tips on how to keep fit as an intern, and our list of IQ’s dream internship companies. It’s a great resource to use before you head into your next interview or while you’re sitting in class daydreaming about your summer internship.
