Amanda is our new campus ambassador from Providence College.
I am a Junior English major, Business minor at Providence College in Rhode Island. I am the Executive Vice President of my school’s chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, I choreograph for the dance club, and market and plan events for Social Justice Advocacy and Student Alumni Association. I have interned at the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce where I helped to organize, advertise, and carry out business to business networking events. I also interned at Planned Television Arts (Ruder-Finn) in New York City. There, I helped to research marketing techniques and potential new clients. I booked radio tours and secured blog placements for authors, including New York Times Best-selling Author Joseph Finder.
Internships are so important for me because I need to supplement my liberal arts major with practical experience in order to one day land my dream position: marketing for the entertainment industry in New York City. I write for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ blog, Talk Nerdy 2 Me (www.talknerdy2me.org). My posts have generated substantial Twitter and Facebook feedback, and even led to a guest feature on Internships.com.
I would love to continue to share my tips and ideas with other students on the Intern Queen blog. Having two internships before my Junior year and being in the honors program at my school, I have a lot of good information and advice to offer.
