Alison is our new campus ambassador from Sarah Lawrence College.
I am currently a senior at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, expecting to graduate this May 2012. At my college we have concentrations rather than majors to emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary studies. My concentrations are in economics and communications with a minor in digital photography. Currently, I work as a Senior Interviewer and Communications Specialist in the Office of Admissions at my college. Additional extra curricular activities of mine include being the President and re-founder of the Pre Professional Marketing Association and a Board member of the Senior Gift Committee, which is a sub committee of The Fund for Sarah Lawrence. This past summer I interned at Froogle Media Group as a Social Media Strategist. I have also held an internship as an Administrative Assistant at Quantimum Business, an IT and communications firm. I believe the benefits of having internships during a student’s undergraduate college education are priceless. Internships provide students with professional experience and industry exposure that not only offer deeper insight into future careers but also helps student’s establish a professional network of contacts at a crucial time in their pre professional careers. I believe other students would be interested in reading about my college endeavors because they offer a wide perspective of experiences. These experiences range from transferring from another college, learning how to establish leadership and involvement on a new campus, searching for internships in the New York area and extensive research to understand how to best prepare and market myself to the competitive world after college.
