School is back in session and I'm back on the road. I kicked off my Fall Speaking Tour yesterday at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. The turnout was great and the students all had so many great questions. A big Thank-You goes out to Lindsey Pollak for recommending me to the school! The staff at Bradley was amazing and I found out that President Hitt (of UCF) actually came down from Bradley! During my presentations, I always look for student involvement at the end of the presentation. Are they asking questions? Are they really thinking about how internships affect their lives? Last night, the answer was a clear YES. There was so many questions - and really really good questions about internships. Students were interested in going abroad, going to New York & Los Angeles for the summer. Many had questions about their resumes and making sure they include relevant work experience.
One of the great things about Bradley is how much they support their student interns. As a sophomore, you can go into the career center, and register for internships - for credit OR not for credit - either way it shows up on your transcript. Another interesting note, was how nicely Bradley works with their community. As opposed to just being a school in Peoria, Bradley truly partners with their community and works closely with both students and non-students from the area on career consulting and more.
Overall, I had a great experience (minus a few travel delays) and will hopefully be back to Peoria in the not-so-distant future. Thank you so much to everyone at Bradley who made my visit a success. Off to Purdue!
