I am a rising Social Work senior at Champlain College in Burlington, VT. Apart from being a full-time student, I also have held down a part-time work-study job in the Career Services office on campus since my first year in college. I am involved in Champlain College&s small choir, Music Makers, that meets about once a week for two hours. My first-ever internship was during my second semester of my sophomore year in the Office of Drug and Alcohol Education on campus, and my second internship will be a year-long internship for my senior year at The Arbors in Shelburne, VT working with the elderly who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer&s and/or dementia. I value internships because of the great experiences that come from them. Not only do internships prepare you for what it&s really like to work in your respective industry, but also internships will help you gain an extra year or two of experience while still in college. This will put you ahead of some of your classmates when it comes to competing for those aggressively sought-after positions!
