Meet Ellie J.!
I am a 21 year old energetic, outgoing and driven girl from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I started college at Elon University as a strategic communications major and leadership minor. During my time at Elon University, I was also a Leadership fellow, an honor given only to 25 students in each class. During the summer between my junior and senior year, I was offered a position as an intern at Peppercom Strategic Communications in New York. I eagerly accepted the opportunity.
After a great study abroad semester in Madrid my sophomore year, I decided to take the second semester off (this past semester) from Elon University to discover more about my passion: public relations. Peppercom welcomed me back, this time as a paid intern. My hard work the summer before opened the door.
This Spring, I was accepted into the journalism school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study public relations. Elon University was a great place for me for the two years I spent there, but I am ready to move on to a new experience and a new school with greater resources for PR. I am going into UNC-CH as a second semester Junior, and I will be majoring in Public Relations and plan on being as involved as possible in extracurriculars at UNC.
While my college experience is not necessarily as traditional as most, one theme stands out in my story: the ability to follow my passion. I have always done what I think will be best for myself in terms of my education, my future career and personal goals.
