When I was 19 years old I got an internship in New York for the summer at Backstage, the theatre trade publication. I needed a place to stay for the duration of my internship from the end of June until the beginning of August. I learned about the NYU Summer Housing program from a family friend who used their services in the past. Wherever I stayed, I wanted to make sure I could meet other young interns, as I didn’t have many friends in the New York City area. The people at NYU summer housing told me the dorms would be filled with interns from all over the world. I was able to register for housing, get on the NYU meal plan, and use the NYU fitness center. I was assigned to Hayden Hall, an older dorm right outside Washington Square Park. The experience was amazing. I made life-long friends, had somewhere safe to call home for the summer, and was right in the city so I could easily get to my internship. I can confidently promote NYU Housing to any student that needs summer housing – as the experience is priceless.
