I saw a tweet today asking my thoughts on part-time jobs vs. internships. Here is the deal - employers will ask you where you&ve interned NOT where you&ve worked. When they ask this question, they want you to answer with internship experience and not part-time job experience. Now, if your part-time job is relevant to your field, that&s a better situation, but you should at least have one internship on your resume. If you had an internship turn into a part-time or full-time job, that&s a great story to share with an employer. Remember, you CAN manage an internship, part-time job, and schoolwork - I did it and so can you. And paid internships DO exist, but they are normally limited to certain fields (engineering, private sector, high-tech, finance). So my advice, as always, get an internship and follow my site to learn how to make the most of it. Good luck!
