Polyvore, a Practical Pinterest
This blog post was written by Laura Straub, our Campus Ambassador from Ohio University.
Have you ever found yourself on Pinterest pinning the perfect interview outfit? What about a show-stopping ensemble for your first day on the job? Have you ever clicked on that pin only to find that you have no idea where you could actually purchase the get-up? Thankfully the new social media website, Polyvore, presents a solution to this problem.
Polyvore uses the same concept as Pinterest, where users pin items onto collages, however, all the origins of the pieces on Polyvore are posted when your mouse rolls over the piece. After creating a free account on Polyvore.com, you can create ensembles classified under different subheadings. You can place pieces from designer lines to affordable retailers on to your collage, including shoes, tops, bottoms, dresses, hairstyles and accessories. You can then share your looks with your followers and friends. The best part is that each piece of your collage shows the cost and how to purchase the item.
If you are unsure of how to dress for your first day on the job, or just need to brush up on business casual attire, Polyvore can help with that too. Just search a style or follow your favorite style icon to get instant inspiration. Top accounts even include an account by Susan, Ranya and Laura of Glamour magazine.
Polyvore also services the interior decorating market. Design your new apartment or dorm space from the comfort of home with collage boards dedicated to furniture, lighting and home accessories.
