Questions

Can you describe and tell me about Amazing Cosmetics and it’s background.

Answers

Amazing Cosmetics has been around for over 15 years. It was founded by two women who noticed there wasn’t a good concealer in the beauty industry. Once the company started professional makeup artists started hearing of them and through word of mouth they sent the products to other makeup artists. To this day, Amazing Cosmetics is used on a lot of movie sets, shows etc.

  • First thing I do when I wake up  is check my emails to make sure nothing crazy is happening. I also check the ads that are running and I do a run through of sales or news related items.

  • After I get settled I start researching platform updates of what’s happening in the world because I like to keep up with social media.

  • A little later in the day I usually have meetings and I try to take care of any tasks that I have with our junior level execs.

  • Lunch time: I have a working lunch which means that I usually eat at my desk and work through.

  • In the afternoon, I am usually creating content and working on presentations and research.

  • My day usually ends at around 5:30pm :)

Questions

Did you have any internships while you were in college? If so, what was the best thing you ever learned at your internships?

Answers

Yes. I had multiple internships while I was in college. I think the most important lessons I learned were that first, it is very important that everyone understands office structures and the practices of being in an office. Altering the way you communicate in the office vs. in college is key. I also learned the importance of doing hands on work at your internship whether it that was within my field  or focused on other things. Those are the two most important things I learned.

Questions

How did you get from college to where you are today?

Answers

I goal set. I literally write down my goals in my planner. For me, I graduated with a BA in Marketing. I wasn’t sure which direction I wanted to go. My senior year in college I wanted an internship in a place where I would be able to get a job. That’s my biggest advice for students. I did a lot of networking and making people aware that I would love to get a position at the company where I interned my senior year and for me it worked because I was referred to someone else and my internship literally transitioned into a new position right after I graduated. Even though the position I landed wasn’t an area where I had experience I did have experience working with that company and that really made a difference for the employers.

From there, I always had the goal to work at one of the top agencies in Chicago. I always kept a close eye on the company and I networked with people in that company since I was 16. I kept in contact with them over the years and always searched for open positions until there was finally one open. After lots of networking and reaching out to the people I had kept in contact with I landed the job and ended up working there for a couple of years.

After that, I wanted to work in cosmetics. I wanted to work at a smaller company. I was looking for  in-house opportunities where I could see the impact of my work. I found Amazing Cosmetics and It was the perfect fit and I have been happy ever since.

Questions

What is the hardest thing and best thing about your job?

Answers

Hardest: The hardest part is that it’s a small company with limited resources and often times you have to wear multiple hats. It can get overwhelming at times but I truly love what I do. :)

Best Part: I would say that it’s kind of the same thing. The best part is that it’s a small company, everyone is invested and loves the brand and wants to succeed. The founders have hired awesome amazing people.
