Brian Salter is the Director of Field Marketing for VEB Coca-Cola brands, Northwest. Zico is one of their brands and he is going to tell us all about what it's like working for a beverage brands and take us through a day in his life.

What is your title and position at the company and what exactly does that mean (we know sometimes it's hard to tell what a person does based on their title?

Answers

My official title is Director of Field Marketing for VEB Coca-Cola Brands, Northwest. That really just means I oversee all field marketing staff and resources for all VEB Brands in the Northwest territory. Zico is a VEB brand.

Did you have any internships while you were in college? If so, what was the best thing you ever learned at your internships.

Answers

I did!  I interned at a family law office!  I learned the BEST thing ever- that I did NOT want to be a lawyer.  What a revelation because up to that point, I thought that was what I wanted to do with my life.  The experience was great because I was able to see the difference between what I thought I knew and what I actually knew about the profession. Dodged a bullet there!

In 5 sentences or less how did you get from college to where you are today?

Answers

I always: 1) do my best and 2) have fun.  It's a simple criteria but really difficult to do if you are being honest with yourself.

Answers

We are looking for sophomores and juniors who have a proven track record of curiosity for field marketing, business and health and wellness. What are the different types of jobs and internships opportunities when working for a beverage brand.

Answers

There are SO many levels of impact along the route to market for a natural beverage brand.  We have Operations professionals who work with our coconut farms and source our product from Thailand, folks like myself who work with agencies and market our product directly with consumers, and also a network of Sales professionals who manage the relationships with the retailers where our products are available.

Finally, can you describe a day in your life from morning until night. We love to give our readers a sense of what life is like in your world after college.

7AM: At this time I am usually getting my 16 month old twin girls ready for their day (I'll spare you the details here- there are diapers involved) and take them to day care!

 

                              9AM-11am: COFFEE!! Emails and organize my day!

 

                              11AM-3pm: Meetings, Meeting Meetings

 

                              3PM-6PM: Head to an event / meeting with partners or perhaps training and education on our product with our sales teams.  But I like to get some natural                                    vitamin D sunshine in my life wherever possible.

 

                              7PM: Pick the girls up from daycare- play, shop cook clean read a good article

 

                             10PM: Read and hang with Wifey
