Should College Credit Be Required For Internships?
At Florida State University, I wasn't able to get internship credit until I was a junior/senior. I got my first internship the spring semester of my freshman year of college and was told I couldn't get credit for it. I was able to get "transcript recognition" for the opportunity - my career center helped me with that. After that, I was told at FSU and UCF that I couldn't get anymore internship credit. I did my other 14 internships for the experience. Those internships were the most valuable opportunities of my life. I would do them again in a heartbeat.
The debate is, should student have limitations on their internships? Should they be required to get college credit? I was quoted in this article written by an Emerson college student for USA TODAY COLLEGE on Internship Limits. What do you think? Should students be required to get college credit in order to intern?
