You Had Me At “Free Swag”

This blog was written by Natalie Valdes, our Campus Ambassador from Emerson College. She is excited and ready for CollegeFest!

Calling all New Englanders! Get out of your dorms and apartments to party and collect free swag at CollegeFest! The 27th Annual CollegeFest is going down September 22nd and 23rd in Boston at the Hynes Convention Center from noon-7:00 pm on Saturday and noon-6:00 pm on Sunday. If you’ve never heard of CollegeFest, listen up!

We all know that Boston is the prime college town in the United States, so it’s no question that this will be an awesome way to kick off the new school year. Last year, over 17,000 college students came out! With over 15 local bands and over 25 performances from student organizations around Boston, we know it’s going to be fun.

Oh, and did I mention Wale, The Cataracs and Kap Slap are the headlining performers? Wale is a rapper signed on with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. If you’re big into house music, than I’m sure you’ve heard of Kap Slap. And I hope you’ve heard The Cataracs in their recent debut with Kaskade and Waka Flocka, “All You.” If not, YouTube it!

Excited yet? How about all the free swag from over 100 brands?! Microsoft’s SkyDrive, ReadyU, Repnation, and JAM’N 94.5 are just some of the proud sponsors. I’m most looking forward to seeing the nonprofit organizations Pencils of Promise and Prove People Wrong. I’ll definitely be rocking those PPW wristbands long after CollegeFest.

Is anyone out there considering grad school? Kaplan Test Prep and Princeton Review will both have booths set up at the event (even though I’m dreading that GRE as much as you are!). We know studying for these exams would be impossible without energy drinks, so make sure to get there early before all the Monster Energy drinks are gone!

To save you some cash, I’d like to let you in on a little secret: you can save $5 by buying your tickets right this second! Go online to the CollegeFest website and you can get your tickets for only $10. Think about it, 10 bucks for a ton of free stuff and entertainment for two days! If you forget to buy them ahead of time, don’t worry; they will be sold for $15 at the door. Mastercard, Visa, AMEX, Discover, and cash will all be accepted.

The dress code is “Comfortable and Casual.” So sneakers, shorts, and your favorite college T-shirt will work just fine!
